Among today’s latest announcements from Sony is the introduction of the 100mm F.28 STF G Master Lens, a lens with the “highest ever quality bokeh” for the Alpha system series. Additionally, the manufacturer has announced an all new full-frame 85mm F1.8 mid-telephoto prime lens and compact radio-controlled flash.

Amazing bokeh was the idea behind Sony’s latest G Master Series lens. The FE 100mm F2.8 is a mid-telephoto prime lens that features a unique STF (Smooth Trans Focus) design and will render your subject in breathtaking clarity while creating an artistically blurred background by contrast. This effect would make for stunning portraits, fashion and nature photos, or can be used for wedding photography. A newly designed 11-bladed aperture and an apodization element similar to a neutral density filter allows the lens to create dramatic transitions of in-focus to out-of-focus areas within an image. Sony says this is the “highest ever quality bokeh” lens available for the Alpha series. Your subjects will stand out and your photos will leave an impression.

For those Sony photographers looking for a multipurpose and lightweight go-to prime lens, they should consider the FE 85mm F1.8. Sony says this lens is geared for photographers “ranging from working professionals to emerging enthusiasts that have stepped up to full-frame or APS-C cameras for the first time.” Thanks to the wide open F1.8 lens, the FE 85mm can produce really sharp portraits with impressive, more natural-looking bokeh created with the 9-bladed circular blade mechanism. The lens also comes with a focus hold button that photographers can customize and program to work with their camera body’s functions (ie Eye AF).
