Adorama TV host and wedding photographer Suzanne Delawar has taken the #MannequinChallenge to a new level. Featuring an ENTIRE wedding party – from pre-wedding to dance floor reception – Delawar created a 1-min 30-second video that has since gone viral. The intricate edit, which has gotten 2 million views on Facebook, tells a complete wedding story through edits of the mannequin challenge sequenced together chronologically. The edit starts with the bride and groom getting ready for their big day in their respective bridal suites, and then follows the entire wedding timeline before ending with all the guests frozen on the dance floor before erupting in a joyous dance.
The mannequin challenge has been gaining momentum as the hottest internet meme with everyone from Kevin Hart, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland to Top Photographer host Nigel Barker creating their own versions of the challenge. The idea is to create a video where it looks as though someone hit the pause button during a movie, and all the people on camera freeze mid-action as if suspended in time. It is believed that the first mannequin challenge all started with a video posted by a group of high school students back in October.
Delawar says she and the couple only decided to do the challenge two days before the wedding, explaining that she and the bride, Jemima actually both had the idea. “It’s a funny story,” says Delawar, “I had the idea and called Jemima. She laughed and said, ‘Oh my god, Suzanne, I had just sent you a message on Instagram asking if we could do it!'” Delawar credits the video’s online success to the fact that they had so many people in on it, from the guests to the bridal party and vendors. According to the wedding photographer, they did two takes for every scene, but only one for the ceremony.
It is yet to be seen if Delawar’s video will spark a new trend in wedding photography, but we love it and can’t wait to see more of them!
